When You're 6

You go to school for 6 hours instead of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

You lose your first tooth.

You cross the monkey bars all by yourself and are undaunted by the resulting palm-blisters.

You play the kissing game at recess.

You practice ballet in real leather ballet slippers.

You don’t like pants with “buckles.”

You get upset and you get over it.

You share with your brothers.

You’re proud of your choices.

You’re innocent and lovely and amazing.

You’re my fantabulous daughter, Leah Lou.

When your 6 most things just seem so magical and full of wonder and joy. There is total joy written all over your beautiful daughter's face. I loved when I was 6 and I loved it when the girls were 6.
Have a great day.

I passionately love the 2.5 hour-kindergarten to 6 hour-first grade conversion. And I am still all for a rousing round of the kissing game.

From one mom to another - she is absolutely beautiful. Better keep her locked up till she's 23!

I have a 6 year old grandson. Honestly - it really doesn't get much better than a 1st grader. They are the kindest, sweetest, most loving kids. Enjoy!

My now 17yo played kissing games when he was 6 and his teacher reported him to the principal for being sexually overgrown. Something like that. I had to pick him up from school and they made me feel like I was raising a major pervert. Stupid first year teacher who ruined recess for all.

I can't even tell you all how many times we've "talked" about the kissing game. But since she's discovered an aptitude for the monkey bars it hasn't been as much of an issue. Do you think that will work when she's 16? A set of monkey bars in the backyard, perhaps?
